Our home is a high desert environment where we have the opportunity to use our high diurnal fluctuations to lower heating and cooling costs through strategic use of thermal mass and smart ventilation. As this is a high desert, water availability is a constraint but also an opportunity to use strategies such as laundry-to-landscape, smart water monitoring, and even composting toilets to make the most of every drop.
